Patients who’ve been injured or are suffering from painful conditions like arthritis require musculoskeletal imaging to provide the most complete diagnoses. Our Board-Certified radiologists are fellowship-trained in a variety of subspecialties, including musculoskeletal imaging, MRI, CT, musculoskeletal ultrasound and more. As a result, we have the expertise to diagnose orthopedic conditions accurately, which could mean the difference between full recovery and continued pain and discomfort.

Medical imaging offers highly detailed images and many different ways to use hardware and software to diagnose a variety of conditions. While some of these techniques produce similar results, it requires specialized training to select the modality that will give you the information you need for a particular patient and the unique characteristics of your case.

We offer a variety of techniques and programs to assist in assessing musculoskeletal health conditions:

• Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) – Most often used for examining large and small joints (knees, shoulders and spine, wrist, ankle and elbow) when other imaging techniques aren’t effective. Combined with arthrography, MRI is useful for evaluating postoperative knee and shoulder problems and the ligaments of the wrist.

• Computed Tomography (CT) – Provides highly detailed cross-sectional images of most internal body parts and is particularly effective for examining bones. With CT, we can examine fractures in bones that are otherwise hidden from view using simple radiography techniques.

• Nuclear Medicine – Uses radioisotopes to help identify certain problems early, when treatment can be most effective. A nuclear bone scan can identify fractures, tumors and diseases of the skeletal system.

• Ultrasound – Excellent modality for examining muscles, tendons and ligaments and the soft tissue and fluids that surround the joints.

• DEXA Scanning (Bone Densitometry) – A noninvasive means to quickly and accurately measure the strength, density and mineral content of bones. DEXA identifies patients with osteoporosis early, so appropriate treatment can be initiated before problems arise.

For more than 20 years, our sub-specialist radiologists have given lectures and seminars to orthopedists and podiatrists, earning a reputation as area leaders in musculoskeletal imaging. During that time, we've accurately diagnosed thousands of cases involving the feet, ankles, elbows, wrists, knees, shoulders, hips and spine.
